WIESBADEN – A new interactive map of the statistical offices of the Federation and the Länder for the first time shows energy consumption of industry in a breakdown by administrative district. Accounting for just under 30%, natural gas was the main energy carrier for industrial plants in Germany in 2018. It was followed by electricity (22%), mineral oils and mineral oil products (16%), and coal (15%). However, there are large regional differences regarding the composition of energy consumption.
