WIESBADEN – Midwifery is one of the shortage occupations. However, interest in that occupation appears to have risen in the last years. To mark the International Day of Families on 15 May, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the number of midwifery students increased by 44% from 1,867 in the school year 2008/2009 to 2,688 in the school year 2018/2019.
