WIESBADEN – In March 2020 turnover in the main construction industry was up 11.8% on March 2019. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of persons employed increased by 2.0% compared with the same month a year earlier. Thus effects of the corona pandemic on turnover and employment in the main construction industry were not yet visible in March 2020. In the first three months of 2020, turnover in the main construction industry was up 11.6% compared with the same period of the previous year. The number of persons employed rose by 2.2% in the same period.
