The turnover reported by the hotels and other accommodation establishments was 88.6% real and nominal lower than in April 2019. In food and beverage services, turnover fell by a real 68.5% compared with April 2019. Within food and beverage service activities, the real turnover of caterers in April 2020 was by 53.2% lower than in the same month of the previous year.

The reason for this was the ban on overnight stays of tourists in hotels and other accommodation establishments, which began on 18 March 2020. From 22 March 2020, restaurants were closed with the exception of takeaway and delivery services. Due to these measures, all branches of accommodation and food service activities saw the largest losses in turnover since the beginning of the time series in 1994.
