WIESBADEN – More police staff and more personnel in municipal day care centres for children increased public service employment until mid-2019. To coincide with the Public Service Day on 23 June 2020, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that roughly 4.9 million people were employed in the public service in Germany on 30 June 2019, according to provisional results. That was an increase of 1.7%, or 83,400, compared with a year earlier.
