WIESBADEN – More than 11.3 million people were employed and a turnover of just under 3.4 trillion euros generated by the roughly 643,000 industry enterprises in Germany in 2018. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that, by comparison, 19.8 million people worked in the nearly two million service enterprises. The turnover of those enterprises amounted to almost 3.5 trillion euros.
