WIESBADEN – In May 2020, the construction price index for conventionally constructed new residential buildings (construction work performed at the building; including turnover tax) in Germany was up 3.0% compared with May 2019. In February 2020, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the price index increased by 3.4% on a year earlier. Compared with February 2020, the price index for residential buildings rose by 0.4% in May 2020.
As far as non-residential buildings were concerned, the price index for office buildings and for industrial buildings were up 3.1% in May 2020 compared with May 2019. The price index relating to road construction rose by 2.5% compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year.
