WIESBADEN – With the Act to Strengthen Occupational Pensions, various measures to support employee pension schemes entered into force on 1 January 2018. Among other things, a government subsidy on company pensions was introduced for low-income earners. In 2018, just under 50,000 employers in Germany received the subsidy for 680,000 of their persons employed earning low gross wages. That is 2.5% of all employers in Germany. The total volume of this government subsidy amounted to 67 million euros.
