WIESBADEN - In 2019, 680,000 people received training assistance under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) in Germany. This was a decrease of 47,000 people compared with a year earlier (-6.4%). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that 388,000 women (57%) and 292,000 men (43%) received training assistance. The recipients included approximately 191,000 pupils and 489,000 students in 2019. The number of pupils who received training assistance fell by 8.7% and that of students by 5.5% compared with 2018.
