WIESBADEN – The volume of the subsidy for employee pension schemes rose by 33% to 89 million euros in 2019 on a year earlier. According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), nearly 67,400 employers in Germany used this government subsidy in the second year after its introduction to the benefit of 741,200 employees earning low gross wages. That is 3.4% of all employers in Germany (2018: 2.5%). Compared with 2018, the number of employers who received such subsidies increased by 18,700 and the number of employees by 61,800. An average of 120 euros were granted per employee.
