WIESBADEN – In the whole of Germany, 42,500 professional qualifications acquired in a foreign country were recognised in 2019 as fully or partially equivalent to the relevant qualifications obtained in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that 65% of the qualifications recognised (27,700) related to medical health occupations. This was an increase of 24% on 2018 (22,300). Health and nursing care alone accounted for 15,500 recognitions (+49% compared with 2018). The positive trend of the previous years thus continued. The number of recognitions granted in this occupation has nearly tripled since 2016 (5,600).
