WIESBADEN – The corona pandemic and increasing home office work have created challenges for the IT infrastructure and can take enterprises to their limits, both in staff and organisational terms. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that, in 2019, only one in five enterprises in Germany with ten or more persons employed stated to have IT experts of their own (19%). In 2015, the proportion was 21%. More than two thirds (69%) of the enterprises which had tried to hire IT experts reported about problems in filling those vacancies. A few years earlier, just under half of the enterprises had indicated such problems (46%).
