WIESBADEN – The number of passengers using public long-distance rail and regular road transport in Germany in the first half of 2020 decreased by 46.1% from the first half of 2019. According to results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), long-distance rail transportation decreased by 43.2% to 41 million passengers. Long-distance regular bus transport was down 66.6% to 3.5 million passengers in the first half of 2020. Preliminary results show a 37% decrease in the number of short-distance rail passengers to 874 million.
