Prices of residential property, 3rd quarter of 2020 (provisional early estimate)

WIESBADEN – The prices of residential property (house price index) in Germany were an average 2.6% higher in the third quarter of 2020 than in the second quarter of 2020. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this is an increase of 7.8% on the third quarter of 2019. This means that the average price increase in the third quarter of 2020 was the highest since the fourth quarter of 2016 despite the coronavirus crisis. At the time, the increase on the same quarter of the preceding year had been 8.4%.
