Press Men’s World Day: men in Germany are less satisfied with their job than men on average in the EU

  • 22% of German men indicated in 2018 that they were not satisfied with their job (EU average: 17%)
  • More than four in five men in Germany were in employment in 2019 (EU: three in four men)
  • Only one in ten working men in Germany had a part-time job in 2019, while almost every second woman in employment worked part-time

WIESBADEN - Despite the fact that, in an EU comparison, the German labour market is robust even in times of crisis, men in Germany are not fully satisfied with their work situation more frequently than the average. To coincide with the Men’s World Day on 3 November, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that roughly 22% of men aged 16 and over in Germany were not satisfied with their job in 2018. The EU average was only 17%. More than half of the men in Germany indicated mean satisfaction with their job (55%). Here the EU average was 59%. 23% stated that they were very satisfied with their job (EU: 24%).
