Press COVID-19 vaccination: 7.6 million people aged 70 to under 80 years are high priority

• Sachsen-Anhalt has the highest proportion of 70 to under 80-year-olds, Hamburg the lowest
• 51.4 million people were 18 to 64 years old in 2019

WIESBADEN – Since the end of last year, people have been vaccinated against the Sars-CoV-2 virus in Germany. Together with specific groups of occupations, the 5.7 million people aged 80 years or over had the highest priority for vaccination. In accordance with the latest Vaccination Ordinance of the Federal Government, the 70 to under 80-year-olds will then be vaccinated with high priority. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that roughly 7.6 million people or 9.1% of the total population were of that age at the end of 2019.
