WIESBADEN – Agreed earnings in Germany rose by an average 2.1% in 2020 compared with 2019. This is shown by the index of agreed monthly earnings including extra payments. The provisional result released on 21 December 2020 (+2.1%) is thus confirmed. This has been the lowest increase of agreed earnings since 2016 (also 2.1% on 2015). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that agreed earnings excluding extra payments rose by 2.4% in 2020 compared with the previous year. Consumer prices were up 0.5% over the same period.
