WIESBADEN – The per-pupil amount spent on education in public schools from the public budgets averaged 8,200 euros in 2019. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was just over 400 euros more than in 2018, and 800 euros more than in 2017.
The per capita spending varied between the types of schools. At schools of general education, an average 8,900 euros was spent per pupil in 2019, which was 500 euros more than in the previous year. The relevant expenditure amounted to 7,100 euros at primary schools and to 9,500 euros at integrated comprehensive schools.
