WIESBADEN – According to provisional results, roughly 10.9 million pupils are receiving education in schools of general education and vocational schools, and in schools for nurses, midwives, etc. in Germany in the school year 2020/2021. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of pupils remained nearly unchanged compared with the school year 2019/2020. This movement runs parallel to the population development. At the end of 2019, the number of people in the relevant age group (5 to under 20 years) was similar to that seen in 2018.
