- Number of people injured in road traffic accidents down by slightly more than 40% compared with January 2020
- Results for 2020 show that most people died in accidents on country roads
- Accidents on motorways in 2020: number of people injured down by 27% and of fatalities by 11%
WIESBADEN – In January 2021, 141 people died in road traffic accidents in Germany, according to provisional results. This was a decrease of 65 people compared with January 2020. The number of people injured was down by 40.2% to roughly 15,500 in January 2021 year on year. On the whole, the police recorded roughly 150,000 road traffic accidents in January 2021, 24.2% less than in the same month of the previous year. People were injured or killed in 12,400 accidents, which was a 37.7% decline in accidents compared with January 2020. The number of accidents involving only material damage fell by 22.7% to roughly 137,500.
