WIESBADEN – Fear of losing one’s livelihood, social isolation, stress: the coronavirus pandemic has a negative impact on the psyche. Even before the crisis, the number of psychotherapists was on the rise in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office reports that approximately 48,000 psychological psychotherapists and psychotherapists for children and juveniles worked in Germany in 2019, that is 19% more than five years earlier. On average, their number had risen by roughly 2,000 per year since 2015.
