WIESBADEN – In February 2021, the construction price index for conventionally constructed new residential buildings (construction work performed at the building; including turnover tax) in Germany was up 3.1% compared with February 2020. In November 2020, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the price index went down by 0.1% on a year earlier due the value added tax reduction. Compared with November 2020, the price index for residential buildings rose by 4.5% in February 2021.
As far as non-residential buildings were concerned, the price index for office buildings was up 3.1% in February 2021 compared with February 2020. The index for industrial buildings also rose by 3.1%. The price index relating to road construction rose by 1.5% compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year.
