WIESBADEN – Employers in industry and the support services sector in Germany paid an average of 36.70 euros per hour worked in 2020. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that Germany ranked seventh within the European Union (EU 27 without the United Kingdom) in terms of labour cost level, as it did in the previous year. Denmark had the highest labour costs per hour worked (46.90 euros), Bulgaria the lowest (6.40 euros). Labour costs per hour worked in Germany increased by 3.0 percent on a calendar adjusted basis compared with a year earlier.
