WIESBADEN – The vaccination campaign launched at the end of 2020 is accelerating. More than a quarter of the population in Germany have already received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine. Now, people in Group 3 with increased priority are allowed to make an appointment for vaccination. This means that people aged 60 to under 70 years are eligible for vaccination. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that roughly 10.5 million people of that age were living in Germany at the end of 2019. They represented 12.6% of the total population. Eligibility for vaccination is however not only based on age but also on criteria such as occupation or health grounds.
