WIESBADEN – Current health expenditure to the amount of 261.8 billion euros was financed from social insurance contributions in Germany in 2019. According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), social insurance contributions paid for 64.9% of current health expenditure, which totalled 403.4 billion euros. They were the major source from which current health expenditure was financed. Their share increased by 0.4 percentage points on 2018.
