Press release No. 273 of 10 June 2021
WIESBADEN – In May 2021, mobility in Germany came closer to the pre-crisis level of 2019. Despite substantially declining coronavirus cases and the entailed easing of restrictions, however, mobility was still 6% below the May 2019 reference value. In April 2021, mobility had been 9% lower in Germany as a whole compared with 2019. In the first week of June, mobility returned to the pre-crisis level. This is shown by an ad-hoc evaluation of experimental data carried out by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) to represent recent mobility changes during the coronavirus pandemic.
