WIESBADEN – At the end of 2020, the number of dwellings in residential and non-residential buildings amounted to 42.8 million in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the stock of dwellings rose by 0.7%, or 290,966 dwellings, on the previous year. Compared with 2010, the stock of dwellings increased by 5.7% or 2.3 million dwellings. This means that, at the end of 2020, there were 515 dwellings per 1,000 inhabitants, that is 20 dwellings more than ten years earlier.
