Press release No. 337 of 13 July 2021
WIESBADEN – Following a mixed overall economic situation in the first quarter of 2021, the months of April, May and June show first signs of recovery in retail trade, accommodation and food services and tourism as well as stabilisation in production. However, delivery bottlenecks especially in the main construction industry, machinery and equipment and manufacturing have a downward effect on production and dampen expectations. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that, although turnover figures in retail trade and tourism rose sharply in May due to the easing of corona-related restrictions, they are still markedly below pre-crisis levels. There has been no wave of insolvencies so far.
