WIESBADEN – In 2020, Germany subsidised company old-age pension schemes with 175.5 million euros. The total volume of subsidies for company old-age pension schemes thus almost doubled compared with the preceding year (2019: 89.1 million euros). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that nearly 82,100 employers in Germany used this government subsidy in the third year after its introduction to the benefit of more than 1.0 million employees earning low gross wages. This means that 4.2% of all employers made use of this government subsidy (2019: 3.4%; 2018: 2.5%). An average of 171 euros were granted per employee (2019: 120 euros).
