WIESBADEN – In the whole of Germany, 44,800 professional qualifications acquired in a foreign country were recognised in 2020 as fully or partially equivalent to the relevant qualifications obtained in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the number of recognitions was up by 5% on a year earlier (42,500). However, the number of new applications was down. 42,000 new applications for the recognition of a foreign professional qualification were submitted in 2020; this was a decline of 3% compared with 2019 (43,100).
