WIESBADEN - According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the real (price-adjusted) turnover of all wholesale enterprises in Germany was 8.2% higher and the nominal (not price-adjusted) turnover was 15.9% higher in the 2nd quarter of 2021 compared with the same quarter of 2020. The large difference between real and nominal turnover development was particularly due to the substantial increase in wholesale prices in the second quarter of 2021. Compared with the 4th quarter of 2019, the quarter before the coronavirus pandemic broke out in Germany, turnover in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was up by 1.8% in real terms and by 7.3% in nominal terms.
