WIESBADEN – In the second quarter of 2021, turnover in crafts with compulsory approval increased by 11.4% in Germany compared with the second quarter of 2020. After the year-on-year turnover decline of 7.5% in the first quarter of 2021, this was a clear recovery. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of persons employed in crafts with compulsory approval was however down by 1.0% at the end of June 2021 compared with the end of June 2020. The declining trend in employment thus continued. At the end of March 2021, the number of persons employed in crafts with compulsory approval had been down by 1.7% year on year.
