WIESBADEN – 87.2% percent of employees covered by collective agreements in Germany will receive a Christmas bonus in 2021. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the proportion of employees covered by collective agreements and entitled to a Christmas bonus is slightly higher in eastern Germany (88.0%) than in western Germany (87.0%). The average Christmas bonus paid to employees covered by collective agreements will amount to 2,677 euros (gross) in 2021. That is an increase by 1.9% compared with 2020 (2,627 euros). On average, the Christmas bonus of employees covered by collective agreements is 5.5% higher in western Germany (2,695 euros) than in eastern Germany (2,554 euros).
