- Number of requests for normal insolvency proceedings in October 2021 down by almost one third (-29.2%) on the previous month, according to provisional figures
- Consumer insolvencies in August 2021 more than tripled (+217.7%) on the same month a year earlier
WIESBADEN – German local courts reported 1,029 business insolvency requests in August 2021. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decline of 2.1% on August 2020. The last months’ downward trend continued also when many special regulations no longer applied, such as the suspension of the obligation for overindebted businesses to file for insolvency. Compared with August 2019 before the coronavirus crisis, the number of business insolvencies was 36.7% lower in August 2021.
