Turnover in accommodation and food services, September 2021 (provisional results, calendar and seasonally adjusted)
-3.5%, in real terms, on the previous month

WIESBADEN - In September 2021, the calendar and seasonally adjusted turnover in accommodation and food services declined by a real (price adjusted) 3.5% and a nominal (not price adjusted) 4.1% compared with August 2021. Due to increasing coronavirus infections, several German Länder in September 2021 introduced the so-called “2G” regulation as a condition for admission to restaurants and accommodation facilities. “2G” restricts admission to people that have been vaccinated against the coronavirus or recovered from a COVID-19 infection. This may be the reason for part of the turnover decline.
