WIESBADEN – Apples remain by far the largest group of orchard fruit harvested in Germany. Based on final harvest results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that approximately 1.0 million tonnes of apples were harvested in 2021. The harvested quantity was roughly at the level of the previous year (-1.8%). Compared with the long-term average of 2011 to 2020, apple yields were 4.6% higher in 2021.
