WIESBADEN – The number of students at German institutions of higher education has continued to increase during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that 2,787,800 students were enrolled at higher education institutions in Germany in the summer semester of 2021. As a result, the number of students increased by 62,900 (+2.3%) as compared with the summer semester of 2020 (2,724,900). 2,702,200 students were enrolled in higher education in the summer semester of 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
