WIESBADEN – According to an estimate of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), turnover in wholesale trade in Germany recorded a new record high in 2021. The real (price-adjusted) turnover in wholesale trade was 2.5% higher and the nominal (not price-adjusted) turnover was 10.3% higher in 2021 compared with 2020, the year with the highest turnover ever recorded. Compared with 2019, the year before Covid, turnover was up by 4.4% in real terms. The development in wholesale trade thus was similar to that in retail trade, which recorded a new record high in 2021, too.
