Press release No. 062 of 14 February 2022
WIESBADEN – In 2021, just under 45,600 tonnes of bush berries were harvested in Germany; the area under cultivation was 9,440 hectares. The area under cultivation remained almost unchanged compared with the previous year, while the quantity harvested increased by 27%. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the main reason for the marked increase in yields was the more favourable weather conditions in 2021 compared with 2020 which was characterised by late frosts and dry periods. A look back shows that 2021 was a special harvest year. The amount of harvested bush berries has been the largest since the beginning of the survey in 2012.
