- Building permits for new dwellings in two-family houses up by just over a quarter
WIESBADEN – In 2021, the construction of 380,914 dwellings was permitted in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 3.3% or 12,325 building permits compared with 2020. The figures include building permits for both dwellings in new buildings and new dwellings in existing buildings. Compared over a longer period of time, the number of building permits for dwellings continued to be at a high level. The construction of more dwellings in a year was last permitted in 1999 (437,084).
