WIESBADEN – Accommodation establishments in Germany recorded 16.2 million overnight stays of visitors from Germany and abroad in January 2022. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was two and a half times more (+152.9%) than in January 2021 when accommodation bans concerning private visitors were in force due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Compared with the pre-crisis month of January 2020, however, the number of overnight stays was down by 39.9%.
