Wholesale selling prices, February 2022
+1.7% on the previous month
+16.6% on the same month a year earlier

WIESBADEN – In February 2022 the selling prices in wholesale trade rose by 16.6% compared with February 2021. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the annual rates of change in January 2022 and in December 2021 had been +16.2% and +16.1%, respectively.

From January 2022 to February 2022 the index rose by 1.7%. The latest price developments related with Russia’s attack on Ukraine are not contained in the results as wholesale prices were collected for reference date 5 February 2022.

The high rates of change for wholesale prices mainly derive from increased prices for raw materials and intermediate products. The largest impact in February 2022 had the price increase for mineral oil products (+43.6%). The high price increase in wholesale trade of waste and scrap (+46.0%), raw and sawn timber (+44.0%), as well as metals and metal ores (+43.4%) also contributed to the high rate of change in February 2022.
