Prices of residential property, 4th quarter of 2021 and year of 2021 (provisional)
+12.2% on the same quarter of the previous year
+3.1% on the previous quarter
+11.0% on an annual average in 2021 compared with 2020
WIESBADEN – The prices of residential property (house price index) in Germany rose an average 12.2% in the fourth quarter of 2021 on the same quarter a year earlier. This was once again the largest increase in the prices recorded for residential property transactions since the beginning of the time series in 2000. Prices had already risen by 10.8% in the second quarter of 2021 and 12.0% in the third quarter of 2021, year on year. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the prices of dwellings and of single-family and two-family houses were up by an average 3.1% compared with the previous quarter.
