- Number of building permits for dwellings in January and February 2022 almost unchanged on a year earlier
- Markedly fewer building permits for single-family houses (-16.3%), increase for two-family houses (+13.0%) and multi-family houses (+8.7%)
WIESBADEN – In February 2022, the construction of 28,060 dwellings was permitted in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decrease of 6.6% or 1,998 building permits compared with February 2021. From January to February 2022, a total of 57,713 building permits for dwellings were issued – the figure was almost unchanged on the same period a year earlier (January to February 2021: 57,712 building permits). The results include building permits for both dwellings in new buildings and new dwellings in existing buildings.
