- 0.5% more start-ups of larger businesses compared with the pre-crisis level (1st quarter of 2019)
- Number of small business start-ups 3.2% above the previous year's level, but 22.0% below the pre-crisis level
- Complete business shutdowns increased by 6.2% from the same quarter a year earlier and decreased by 12.6% compared with the pre-crisis level
WIESBADEN - In the 1st quarter of 2022, just over 35,000 businesses were started in Germany whose legal form and number of employees suggest that they have greater economic importance. Based on an evaluation of business notifications, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was an increase of 2.7% compared with the same quarter a year earlier, which was still impacted by the Covid-19 crisis. The number of newly established businesses was also 0.5% above the pre-crisis level (1st quarter of 2019).
