WIESBADEN – In March 2022, the calendar and seasonally adjusted turnover in accommodation and food services increased by a real (price adjusted) 6.2% and a nominal (not price adjusted) 6.7% compared with February 2022. Real turnover in accommodation and food service activities more than doubled (+114.8%) compared with the lockdown month of March 2021, when there had been severe restrictions for the hotel and restaurant industry. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports, however, that the turnover in March 2022, in real terms, was 27.7% below the level of February 2020, the month before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Germany.
