- Number of building permits for dwellings dropped by 3.6% from January to March 2022 compared with the same period a year earlier
- Building permits for new construction from January to March 2022: -26.2% for single-family houses, +12.5% for multi-family houses
WIESBADEN – In March 2022, the construction of 34,794 dwellings was permitted in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decrease of 8.9%, or 3,410 building permits, compared with March 2021. From January to March 2022, a total of 92,507 building permits for dwellings were issued, which was a decline of 3.6% compared with the same period a year earlier (January to March 2021: 95,916 building permits). The results include building permits for both dwellings in new buildings and new dwellings in existing buildings.
