- Number of building permits for dwellings from January to April 2022 dropped by 1.5% compared with the same period a year earlier
Building permits for new construction from January to April 2022: -22.0% for single-family houses, +11.6% for multi-family houses
WIESBADEN – In April 2022, the construction of 31,152 dwellings was permitted in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was an increase of 5.1%, or 1,515 building permits, compared with April 2021. From January to April 2022, a total of 123,659 building permits for dwellings were issued, which was a decline of 1.5% compared with the same period a year earlier (January to April 2021: 125,553 building permits). The results include building permits for both dwellings in new buildings and new dwellings in existing buildings.
