WIESBADEN – German fruit growers expect cherry yields to be markedly higher this summer than in 2021. Based on a first estimate as at 10 June 2022, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that fruit growers expect a total harvested quantity of 54,700 tonnes of sweet and sour cherries. This is a marked increase of 42.6% on the previous year (38,400 tonnes) and 19.5% compared with the ten-year average of the period from 2012 to 2021 (45,800 tonnes).
