- Markedly more rail travels at distances of between 30 and 300 kilometres in June 2022 than in June 2019
- Moderate decrease in road transport for travels of under 300 kilometres
- More rail travels and less mobility in road transport especially at weekends
WIESBADEN – In the first month after the introduction of the 9-euro ticket, which is valid all over Germany, rail travels have grown considerably. This is shown by a special evaluation of mobile network data performed by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). In June 2022, movements in rail transport across Germany were an average 42% higher than in June 2019. In May 2022, they had been by 3% higher than in May 2019. The data cover rail travels with a distance covered of 30 or more kilometres.
